Jessie M. Shaw Merit Scholarship Jessie M. Shaw was a dedicated educator and advocate for student success. She served as a teacher, reading coordinator, language arts consultant, and program planner for Chicago Public Schools. Jessie earned her B.S. in Administration from Wilberforce University and an M.A. in Curriculum Studies from DePaul University. Her active involvement with organizations such as the UNCF, YWCA, and the Chicago Urban League reflects her deep commitment to community and education. This scholarship honors her impactful career and contributions to the field of education. Scholarship Criteria: The Jessie M. Gladys B. Lewis HBCU Scholarship Gladys B. Lewis was a distinguished accountant with a remarkable academic background. Her professional career included significant roles at Dunbar Life Insurance and Supreme Life Insurance Company. Gladys B. Lewis's commitment to excellence and her pioneering spirit continue to inspire future generations through this scholarship. Scholarship Criteria: The Gladys B. Lewis HBCU Scholarship is awarded to a student who plans to attend or is currently attending a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) or Predominantly Black Institution (PBI). Claudette McFarland Winstead Need-Based Scholarship Claudette McFarland Winstead was a prominent lawyer and sociologist whose contributions to civil rights and social justice are noteworthy.
