The Leadership Mentoring Opportunities (L.M.O.) Foundation was incorporated in 2003 as the charitable arm of the Lambda Mu Omega Chapter. Originally known as the Gala Foundation, the name was later changed to Leadership Mentoring Opportunities Foundation to better reflect its mission. The foundation was established through the efforts of Valerie Jones Bland and Joy Pilcher, with support from Cristal Clay and Crystal Washington. It was formally incorporated under the administration of Simona M. Haqq.
Members of the L.M.O. Foundation are proud of their impactful work in underserved communities throughout the Chicagoland area. The foundation’s fundraising events, including the Gentlemen’s Gala, Women’s Empowerment Luncheon, luncheon cruises, cotillions, and masquerade parties, have enabled it to make a significant difference in many lives. Over the years, this impact has extended to supporting young college-bound females, resulting in the awarding of over $200,000 in scholarships.
In addition to scholarship support, the foundation has partnered with other organizations to sponsor various initiatives, including food drives, clothing drives, school supply drives, toy drives, health fairs, and mentoring programs. Notably, the L.M.O. Foundation has also extended its support internationally through the Lois Robinson International Relations Committee by aiding schools in Kenya.
The L.M.O. Foundation remains committed to serving others at local, national, and international levels, continually striving to make a positive difference in communities around the world.
